Ok – we are joking… Not about working with Adidas but we do like the occassional toot of a PR horn. And rightly so, we are a small, bespoke, tech agency doing something different so it’s lovely to see BIG brands come on board and work with us on a launch or two…. and so… it was with…
Adidas and a marketing agency called More Creative who wanted to use augmented reality in a way that had legs – football legs and pedigree. And this idea had both…. and arms and torso’s and everything.
It was to get people engaging with members of the national football team using augmented reality and a shopping centre in Glasgow. The rest as you can see from this youTube clip now seen some 12,000 times – is history.
We are just gutted that we couldn’t have mentioned it in the press piece we got in to FCbusiness – as a great magazine related to the football industry.
However, it was then picked up by the Manchester Evening News. So great news.
Great for Manchester, great for augmented reality, and great for augmented reality developers in Manchester like us @goAugmented.
We here at GoAugmented created a system where football fans who stood in front of a camera could then see themselves on screen with players from the Scottish squad.
And create four different changing scenes to capture the imagination (see shots below)
The AR system was installed in a Scottish shopping centre for the public to use, and the results were filmed for a viral video which was then published on YouTube, as part of the More Creative integrated campaign.
Commercial manager Dan Sodergren said: “The idea with this project was to engage with Scottish football fans and give them an experience they had never had before. And very soon we will start to see the same kind of experience available through mobile phone apps.” Which we will as we are offering this augmented reality application from next year !
Pictures from the campaign:
This idea will be great for augmented reality in fashion, or augmented reality in retail.
Just imagine the people you could invite to your launches
Or how many people have smartphones who could then try on a brand’s new clothing before it comes out in the shops
